This custom built theater and show are the original creations of local entrepreneur, Trey Smith and his wife Traci.
Trey and Traci, residents of neighboring Mt. Pleasant, took it upon themselves to produce this unique show
presenting Charleston's past using state-of-the-art special effects while maintaining the look and feel of an old
Charleston parlor.
Trey and Traci have been in the entertainment and special effects business for almost 20 years. Both originally from
Nashville, Trey began his professional carreer as an entrepreneur while in college by designing, building and
operating a recording studio as well as being a professional recording engineer. In 1990 he designed, built and
operated his first haunted attraction during Halloween as a fund raiser. From there he designed, built and operated
large Halloween attractions for 16 years with the help and support of his wife Traci who managed all employees and
retail operations.
Trey and Traci moved to Charleston in 2002 with the intention of creating a unique attraction that would help serve
the tourism market. Trey knew it had to be "very Charleston" and very unique. The result is the Charleston Legends
and Lore Ghost Theater. This show is entirely automated and operated using the same show control equipment as
Disney, Universal Studios and other major attractions.
This attraction was constructed and opened in the heart of the Charleston historic district providing a quality show
that is an entertaining and educational look into Charleston's past by seeing and hearing from those that lived it.
This attraction is a constant work in progress and will be ever evolving. Since the opening in June of 2007, walking
tours have been added as well as other shows such as "The Complete History of Charleston for Morons" comedy
show/tour and the "Gullah Experience".
